EDUCATIONAL Yarnbala
School Tours at Yarnbala
Connect students with nature through immersive, hands-on learning in one of South Australia’s most unique ecosystems.
Our Educational Experience is a specially adapted version of our popular Wild Yarnbala tour, tailored to suit the age, interests, and learning levels of school groups. Set within a critically endangered Grassy She-oak Woodland on Calcrete, this program invites students to explore, discover, and develop a deeper understanding of the natural world through sensory exploration and guided interpretation.
What Students Can Experience:
Guided bushwalk through a rare old-growth ecosystem, home to diverse native flora and fauna, with the chance in the cooler months (July–October) to observe the vulnerable western pygmy possum in its natural environment
Indigenous bush food discovery and tasting
Ancient water divining demonstration
Hands-on learning about local biodiversity, ecosystems, and sustainable living practices — including, on request, a visit to our sustainable orchard
Live didgeridoo and lap-steel guitar performance to close the experience
Our educators adapt each session to align with curriculum goals, offering age-appropriate content for primary and secondary students. The experience supports learning in environmental science, sustainability, Indigenous knowledge, and cultural heritage.
Giving Back to the Land
A portion of every ticket directly supports environmental stewardship and the protection of this rare ecosystem through the Yarnbala Foundation. Your visit helps fund on-ground conservation projects, habitat restoration, and the safe haven program for species such as the Western Pygmy Possum.
