Home to a wide variety of native and migratory bird species — including several of regional, state, and national conservation significance — Yarnbala is a sanctuary for birdlife. Its intact vegetation and minimal disturbance make it a haven for small passerines and threatened species alike.

Just beyond Yarnbala’s boundary, tidal flats of national importance welcome rare migratory shorebirds each spring, travelling up to 26,000 km from the northern hemisphere. Their arrival offers a unique opportunity to witness global journeys up close.

For those interested in coastal habitats nearby, there is also the option to observe rare seabirds including the Red Knot, Curlew Sandpiper, Bar-tailed Godwit and a variety terns
